How do you leverage what's in you, to bring value to those around you?
One day as Pythagoras was working on a project, he was stuck. He needed to get out of the office to think about it. What he heard while he was out on a walk changed everything. Five hammers inside a blacksmith’s shop clanging against hot iron, creating the most beautiful harmony he had ever heard.
As he studied the hammers later, he found something that was obvious…and one thing that was almost forgotten. Four hammers were an exact multiple of the other in their weight. They made sense. They were predictable. That is where his research stopped because he thought total symmetry was what made perfect harmony.
That is where he was wrong.
Enter the value of the fifth hammer.
It wasn’t related to the other four in any way…and so Pythagoras left it out of his research. He missed the point entirely, until he later realized that the key to the harmony was the fact that in order for the music to sound perfect…even though it couldn’t be explained…required the fifth hammer to be part of the process.
It was unpredictable, yet powerful. It was difficult to understand, yet integral. It couldn’t be measured, yet it had incredible value.
The fifth hammer is you.
The fifth hammer is me.
Fifth hammers can be seen as misfits, and mismatches. But they are also wild cards, and the secret to the sound.
The challenge becomes leveraging the value they bring, and being able to clearly articulate it to those around them.
Are you a business owner with a product/service you are passionate about?
Are you a leader of an organization that wants to create a culture where every team member brings incredible value?
Are you an employee or team member that wants to be great at what they do and love going to work everyday?
If you'd like to join a big group of people that see themselves as fifth hammers…game changers in a world that is addicted to status quo makers, this opportunity is something you should hug harder than your first stuffed animal.
Fifth Hammer is about relationships.
Just like the five hammers all needed one another, we all need each other. And just like Pythagoras, who many called a genius, we sometimes get stuck. (Yes…smart people get stuck)
Once a month we’ll gather together and “pound it out”. We’ll go over a short teaching that directly impacts and supports the journey we are all on. We’ll ask questions. We’ll get answers. We’ll build relationships as we learn with and from each other.
Because on the days that you know you can’t explain it, are questioning it, and need someone to walk with you through it…you’ll have it.
Our first meeting is Monday, January 19th. We will be meeting in the suite right next to Kasia Coffee (183 East Main Street in Fredonia) from 7pm-8pm.
Once you sign up and pay for your membership, you will receive a confirmation email with login password to get you started!
